چکیده

The use of bacteria for self-healing cement-based materials has shown great potential in recent years. Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) is a novel technology that relies on the metabolic activity bacteria, principally from genus Bacillus and close relatives, to precipitate (CaCO3) inside cracks heal them. Among different can be used this purpose, aerobic non-ureolytic have promising results improve healing efficiencies engineering properties cementitious composites more sustainable way. Unfortunately, research involving these specific species are scattered throughout literature. Therefore, review aims present one place state-of-the-art knowledge relevant development rely bacteria. In review, most advances regarding various normally (e.g., B. cohnii, pseudofirmus, etc.), methods embedding effects performance composites, outdoors trials economic feasibility systems reported, principal findings discussed summarised at end each section. Finally, gaps future work identified presented last

Self-Healing in Cementitious Materials—A Review

Concrete is very sensitive to crack formation. As wide cracks endanger the durability, repair may be required. However, these repair works raise the life-cycle cost of concrete as they are labor intensive and because the structure becomes in disuse during repair. In 1994, C. Dry was the first who proposed the intentional introduction of self-healing properties in concrete. In the following year...

Self-Healing Capability of Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites

Abstract In order to investigate the self-healing capability of fibre reinforced cementitious composites (FRCC), mechanical properties and surface morphology of crack in FRCC were studied. Three types of FRCC specimens containing (1) polyethylene (PE) fibre, (2) steel cord (SC) fibre, and (3) hybrid fibres composite (both of PE and SC) were prepared. These specimens, in which cracks were introd...

A Bacteria-Based Self-Healing Cementitious Composite for Application in Low-Temperature Marine Environments

The current paper presents a bacteria-based self-healing cementitious composite for application in low-temperature marine environments. The composite was tested for its crack-healing capacity through crack water permeability measurements, and strength development through compression testing. The composite displayed an excellent crack-healing capacity, reducing the permeability of cracks 0.4 mm ...

The Feasibility of Waterproof Microcapsule System for Bacteria-Based Self-Healing Cementitious Material

In this study, a waterproof material was used to fabricate microcapsule by interfacial curing reaction to encapsulate an alkaliphilic spore-forming bacterium. The technical feasibility of encapsulated spores and the influence of three kinds of curing agent on the calcium precipitation activity (CPA) of the bacterium were studied. Furthermore, micromorphology of microcapsules was observed by Sca...
